Recover your vehicle

Please call Police Scotland on 101 to find out if your vehicle has been moved or taken to the car pound. You can find the car pound within Inch Park. Find Lothian Buses services to take you to the car pound.

To release your vehicle you will need

• to pay the release charge - £240 on the day of removal 
• proof of ID such as your driving licence
• proof of your address for instance a household bill, Council tax book or a bank statement - dated within the last 3 months.

You can collect your vehicle during the car pound opening times

• Monday to Saturday 8am to 6.30pm
• Sunday 9am to 6pm.

The car pound will be closed on all parking holidays. 

Please note that we may need to take copies of your documents for audit purposes and in certain circumstances additional proof of identification/address may be required before we can release your vehicle.

Release fee and payment 

The release fee is £190 plus your £50 parking ticket. There is a daily storage fee of £25 and your parking ticket will increase to £100 after 14 days.

You can pay by cash, debit or credit card. Please note that we do not accept cheques.

Challenge your vehicle removal

Any incorrectly parked vehicle may be moved to the car pound. You must pay to release your vehicle before you can challenge your parking ticket or the impound. Please do not argue with staff at the pound. They can't release your vehicle free of charge.

You will receive an appeal form when you collect your vehicle and you have 28 days to submit a challenge.

At times vehicles need to be moved at short notice for instance if there's a gas leak. Your vehicle will be moved to the nearest place free of charge.

Clamping

Your vehicle can be clamped if you have 10 or more unpaid parking tickets.

To remove the clamp you will need to pay the £40 release fee and the £50 parking ticket at the car pound.

Your vehicle may be moved to the pound if you don't pay to remove the clamp. You will need to pay £190 if your vehicle is removed, plus the parking ticket.
