Outlook

Outlook is an adult learning service that enables people who access mental health services to take up a variety of opportunities. The service offers individual guidance, information and educational support.

A range of 5-week short courses run throughout the year, and people can access 12 courses during their time at Outlook. Classes last around two hours each. All courses are at beginner level, and they are free to access.

Referral criteria

Outlook is open to adults accessing mental health services and living in Edinburgh. You can self-refer or be referred through an organisation.

To be accepted into Outlook, you need to be accessing an NHS service for mental health reasons, These services are:

  • Cambridge Street House Community Mental Health Team
  • Ballenden Community House Mental Health Team
  • Craigroyston Community House Mental Health Team
  • Inchkeith House Community House Mental Health Team
  • Thrive Welcome Team
  • Royal Edinburgh Hospital

Ahead of joining Outlook, you also need to be:

  • aware Outlook is an education service and a voluntary option
  • able to take part in a group learning environment
