Investing in new homes for Edinburgh
Affordable homes in Edinburgh are built by the Council, Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) and private developers. See the list of new affordable homes below.
The Council is building homes for social rent, mid market rent and low cost ownership across the city through 21st Century Homes.
The Affordable Housing Supply Programme (AHSP) is funding from Scottish Government to RSLs and the Council to build new homes for rent and sale.
The Council and the City's housing associations have agreed to commit investment to build 20,000 new affordable and low cost ownership homes over the next ten years. Over the next five years, the programme will deliver nearly 8,000 affordable homes with over 5,000 of those homes forming part of the Scottish Government funded Affordable Housing Supply Programme. Around 70% of those homes are for social rent with the remainder being for mid market rent and low cost home ownership. The Council is working with partners, including the Scottish Government, to ensure there is adequate funding to accelerate the development of sites in order to deliver the Council's commitment of 20,000 homes over 10 years
