Apply for a completion certificate
Once you have applied for a completion certificate, we will acknowledge receipt of your application within 14 days. A member of the Building Standards team will arrange to visit your property to carry out an inspection. Using a degree of reasonable inquiry, the surveyor will check the building works with a view to considering the application for acceptance.
Inspection outcome
If the inspection is satisfactory, the surveyor will issue the notice of acceptance of completion certificate which will be issued to the relevant person as soon as possible and will be emailed to the applicant.
If the inspection is unsatisfactory, you will be provided with a list of the items which need attention. Once these items are addressed, the surveyor may reinspect the building or consider an alternative arrangement such as photos or a video call inspection. This is determined on a case by case basis.
We recommend that
- the Building Warrant document
- copies of the approved plans
- the notice of acceptance of completion certificate
should be kept in a safe place with the title deeds for your property. These may be required if you decide to sell your property in the future or are selling.
Details of this information will also be available on Building Standards register.
