Death registrations are being carried out remotely. You will not be required to visit a registration office.
Please read the following guidelines.
- If you have had a bereavement or still birth the certifying doctor will email the Medical Certificate Cause of Death or Still Birth certificate along with your contact details to the registration service. You may also have been be asked if you would also like to receive a copy.
- We will contact you by email in the first instance, as soon as we have received the Medical Certificate Cause of Death or Still Birth Certificate from the medical team.
- We will explain the process for registration to you at this point. You will be advised on what documentation you will require to have to hand.

As part of improving our service we will seek feedback via text message inviting you to complete a short survey.
- You will be given the opportunity to pre pay for any certificate(s) you may require – The entire registration process will be completed over the phone.
Please note: You are not required to visit the registration office - the appointment you make is for a suitable time and date to receive a telephone call from our team.
During the telephone appointment you will be offered a unique reference number and contact link to the Tell Us Once service. This service notifies government departments, including Department for Work and Pensions as well as Council services. Our team will assist you with the process at the time of the telephone registration appointment.
