Cables Wynd and Links View Houses
We’re investing around £69 million in essential repairs to Cables Wynd House and Links View House in Leith.
These high-rise blocks were built in the 1960s and their age and condition are contributing factors to some of the repairs issues residents experience in their homes. We're planning major refurbishments which will help to resolve these issues and make them safer, warmer and more comfortable places to live.
The improvements will include
- Accessible walkways
- Enclosed lobby areas
- External concrete repairs
- Improvements to the area outside the buildings to create nice community spaces
- New communal facilities
- New concierge facilities
- New heating systems
- New insulation
- New roofs
- New sprinkler systems and fire doors
- New ventilation systems
- New water and waste pipes
- New windows and doors
- Refurbished entryways
- Rewiring
Timescales and updates
We’re currently working on the design plans for the refurbishment and expect work on the buildings to begin in 2026 (please note the timescales below are estimated and subject to change).
- December 2024 – Mid 2025: Planning, detailed technical design, market testing and approvals
- Mid 2026: Refurbishment work begins in phases

Please let us know as soon as possible if you spot damp or mould, broken extractor fans or leaking pipes.
