There are two salary sacrifice schemes available through the myBenefits platform: Cycle to work and Car scheme. Both the cycle to work and green car lease scheme give you great discounts through salary sacrifice.

If you meet the criteria to qualify for these schemes, they’ll help you to spread the costs of buying a bicycle or leasing a car. Your monthly payment will be taken off your salary before reductions are applied, therefore you’ll pay less tax and national insurance.

Salary sacrifice payments cannot take you below the national minimum wage, therefore when you apply you may be advised that your order has been unable to be processed. This is a legislative requirement.

Cycle to work scheme

The cycle to work scheme offers a wider range of stores and will start to incorporate independent local cycle outlets giving you greater choice.

Car lease scheme

To help with our ambitions of being a sustainable city, our car lease scheme provides vehicles which emit less than 120g of CO2 per kilometre. We’ll review and adjust the vehicles available each year to reflect lower CO2 limits; and changes to lease costs to make sure electric and ultra-low emission cars are even more accessible for colleagues.

• To work towards our target of being a net-zero carbon city by 2030, all vehicles available on the new car lease scheme will be limited to those with CO2 emissions under 120g/km.
• As the car lease scheme covers the price of the car, maintenance and insurance, there are certain restrictions. For example, to get Tesla Model cars colleagues must be 30 years or older to access insurance on these vehicles.
