Pension
Casual workers
You have the right to choose to join the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). However, the Council is required to postpone a decision about bringing Casual workers into the LGPS.
We will postpone this decision for a period of three months from the start of each period of work you undertake for us. If you’re not already a member of the LGPS you will not, in relation to each period of work undertaken for us, be enrolled into the LGPS.
We will enrol you into the Local Government Pension Scheme after three continuous months from your start date if you’re:
- aged 22 or over, and
- under State Pension Age, and
- earning more than £10,000 (£833 per month) – amounts as at 1 April 2014.
If you want to join the Local Government Pension Scheme
- Contact the Lothian Pension Fund and ask them for an opting in form or visit their website www.lpf.org.uk to download a copy of the form.
- Complete the form in full.
- Send the completed form to: The City of Edinburgh Council, Payroll, Waverley Court Level 2.2, 4 East Market Street, Edinburgh, EH8 8BG.
