How to comment on the draft strategy
Our current consultation seeks your views on how we can best deliver improvements to address the priorities you have told us about in previous consultations. Your feedback will help us shape the plans.
You can comment on any or all the proposals on our online survey.
The survey will be live until 21 February 2025. We are also hosting workshops with key stakeholders and public drop-in sessions.

Previous consultation and engagement
We already have a lot of information on what residents, service providers, businesses, developers and visitors want to see as part of an improved city centre.
This has included consultations on our City Mobility Plan, City Centre Transformation Plan, World Heritage Site Management Plan, which included online surveys, sessions with key stakeholders and drop in sessions.

You have identified these priorities
- safe, smooth pavements which are free from trip hazards and widened in the busiest locations
- a safe, high-quality cycle network
- fast, reliable public transport
- safer major junctions to protect vulnerable road users
- Edinburgh’s unique Old and New Towns World Heritage Site is protected and enhanced
- a diverse mix of day and evening uses for the street and businesses
- an area which better supports culture at key points in the city’s events calendar
- sensitively adapted buildings and spaces to maximise climate resilience and biodiversity
- high quality, safe and inclusive public spaces, including places to play and rest
- non-essential, through-traffic is reduced. making sure any impact from displaced traffic is properly managed
All of this information has been used to help us develop plans for the city centre.
