We often uses photography, video and audio recordings to promote the city and our services. We use these in a wide range of ways such as
- printed publications and advertising
- presentation and exhibition materials
- websites, social media channels and digital communications
- media use for newspapers, publications, website and social media channels, television and radio.
Under data protection laws, we need your permission to hold and use any photographs or videos / audio recordings we take for our library. The laws allow young people over the age of 12 years to consent for themselves if they understand what we are asking them to give permission for. Alternatively, a parent or guardian can consent on their behalf. The form can also be completed on behalf of someone else if you have legal power to act for them eg power of attorney.
We sometimes work with freelance photographers, videographers and audio recorders to produce this material for us. That person may be asking you to give permission on our behalf. They will not hold this information, but will pass it to us using a secure route..
