The City of edinburgh's Council's ePetition facility is a vital progressive step for democracy.
Currently, most citizens are not aware of the council's ePetition services.
Garnering sufficient support may be a problem for some popular causes, simply because there is not the awareness of the petition being there at all.
The public that politicians serve require an additional channel to facilitate dialogue, that is organised, efficient, simple.
A dedicated location - a small room in a community hub; library facilitates; or somewhere on the grounds of a relevant council building - with a computer with access only to the ePetitions page, an area for small displays related to petitions, are simple, cheap approaches to this.
There are many possible approaches, with many potential benefits for the public interest at large. - Petition Status
