This policy complies to The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and applies in all cases where the acquisition of communications data, using the powers set out in the Act, is being planned or carried out. The Act provides that only service use information and subscriber information may be applied for by a local authority. Traffic data may not be obtained by a local authority under the Act.
