Clerwood Park Footway Determination - Petitions (Invalid)
Petition details
This petition is submitted on behalf of residents of, and local to, Clerwood Park. Properties in Clerwood Park (specifically numbers 1-76) were designed with a specific layout of rear vehicular access, and fully segregated pedestrian access at the front of each property. We believe the Statutory List of Adopted Roads (SLAR) on the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) website is incorrect in the designation of concrete hardstanding parking areas as ‘footways’. Council correspondence to a resident in 1980 and 2006 confirmed the concrete hardstanding areas are not adopted. We, the undersigned, seek the following actions by CEC: 1) A moratorium of enforcement of pavement parking in the Clerwood Park area until this subject is resolved. 2) Recognition that the SLAR on the CEC website may contain inadvertent errors. 3) Review of Council files (not including the SLAR) that show the designation of concrete hardstanding areas at the edges of Clerwood Park, and how this was changed and communicated to residents if it is found to be classified as ‘footways’ for the creation of the online map. 4) Correction of SLAR map to show these hardstanding areas as private. 5) If CEC refute the clear evidence provided by them to residents in 1980 and 2006 and still wish to classify the areas as footways, we request it be re-determined to ‘hardstanding parking area’ or ‘carriegway’ as it would create issues of safety if policed as ‘footway’ for the national pavement parking legislation. Refer to recent residents’ emails outlining full safety rationale.
