Lochend Walkway and Crawford Bridge Underpass Redevelopment - Petitions (Invalid)
Petition details
There are 2 local footpaths which are woefully inadequate and dangerous. 1. Lochend Walkway - Linking Meadowbank to Lawrie Reilly Place. 2. Crawford Bridge Underpass - Lawrie Reilly Place to Sunnyside Way. 1. Lochend was earmarked for ''Local Development Plan Action Programme – Lochend Butterfly'' in 2022 but no action was taken. 2. Crawford Bridge Underpass - Lawrie Reilly Place to Sunnyside Way - The original development promised a link between Lawrie Reilly Place and the Crawford Bridge. This never materialised. However the path underneath is an incredibly well used through pass which needs to be formalised and made safe. We want to the council to take the following action. 1. Deliver on the original Lochend Walkway 2022 plans. (1) Make the path wider by at least 1 meter (2) Have a separate lane for cyclists (3) Remove the dangerous sharp turn onto the path (4) Apply a slope from the path into Meadowbank for cyclists and those using wheelchairs (4) Apply street lighting to the path (5) Add in a bin (6) Additionally work with Network Rail to have a long term plan for barren land behind the retail park. 2. Crawford Bridge Underpass. (1) Add in 4-5 streets lights under the bridge (2) Create a formal path circa 30m. This could be wood chip, rubber crumb or tarmac. (3) Help remove the large build up of graffiti which has blighted the through pass
