How we are reducing emissions
We have set an ambitious target for Edinburgh to become a net-zero city by 2030. Transport is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions.
Our City Mobility Plan outlines how we aim to improve our transport system to make it cleaner and more sustainable and create safe, attractive and healthy streets and spaces for people to walk, wheel, cycle in and enjoy. It aims to tackle congestion and improve air quality across the city by
- extending the tram route to Newhaven
- creating a Low Emission Zone
- creating a strategic network of walking and cycling routes across the city
- putting in more electric vehicle charging points.
