Help with preparing and eating meals
You may be able to get help with preparing or eating meals if you are assessed as needing personal care. A care worker can prepare up to three meals or snacks a day, one of these will be a main hot meal.
The cost of help with meals
For people aged
- under 65 how much you pay is based on a financial assessment
- 65 or over help with meals at home is part of free personal care.
Frozen meals are £2.88 per meal including a main course and dessert.
Council day care centre provides meals with £6.50 per day.

Other external providers
Mealmakers is a community food-sharing project. Volunteers cook an extra portion of their evening meal in their own home, and deliver it to a neighbour at a mutually convenient time, typically once a week.
If you are over 55, you can become a member with a £5 yearly fee.
