The regeneration of Pennywell and Muirhouse is a long term project led by the Council to create new homes, jobs and facilities in the area.
The project, which began in 2008, is expected to complete in 2025 and aims to deliver
- a new medical centre
- a new high school
- new mixed tenure homes
- new shops
- a new civic square
- a new community hub including a nursery, library and improved arts centre
- improved transport connections
- landscape and greenspace improvement
- Improving opportunities for employment and learning
The regeneration of Pennywell and Muirhouse is part of the Council’s 20-minute neighbourhood strategy, which aims to ensure residents’ needs are met within easy reach of their homes.
The project has been strongly influenced by the existing and developing community in the area.
The construction contracts include a package of community benefits ranging from employment and training opportunities through to in kind assistance for local organisations.
