Granton Waterfront Primary School

The Edinburgh Local Development Plan identified Granton Waterfront as a Strategic Development Area. Current plans show that new developments will eventually deliver more than 5,000 new homes.

A new primary school in Granton Waterfront was included as an action in the Local Development Plan in 2016. Proposals for the new neighbourhood include a large site within the main development zone for a new primary school and nursery. A catchment area for the new primary school will be established following consultation.

This new catchment area could result in changes to the existing catchment areas of

  • Craigroyston Primary School
  • Granton Primary School
  • Pirniehall Primary School
  • Broughton High School
  • Craigroyston Community High School.

Consultation papers have been produced which include details of the proposals, information about the dates and times of public meetings and how people can give their views.  You can access the full consultation paper, the online survey and other supporting information using this link www.edinburgh.gov.uk/grantonwaterfrontps

Copies of the statutory consultation paper are available for inspection at the Council Offices at City Chambers and Waverley Court, at Granton Library and at the schools affected by the proposals.

This public consultation is being conducted according to the requirements of the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010 and it runs between Thursday 22 August 2024 until Thursday 3 October 2024.

The new primary school is expected to open in August 2028.
