The City of Edinburgh Council Leader, Adam McVey welcomes the city's move to level two today.

To mark Edinburgh moving to level 2 in the Scottish Government’s roadmap to recovery, and more businesses and attractions across the city opening their doors from today (Monday 17 May), the City of Edinburgh Council Leader, Adam McVey visited the Royal Yacht Britannia, one of the city’s leading attractions, based in Leith. He was met by The Royal Yacht Britannia’s Chief Executive, Bob Downie who shared stories of the ships fascinating history.

Council Leader and Councillor for Leith, Adam McVey said:

It’s great to see the Royal Yacht Britannia open its doors again, one of our City's top attractions with a wealth of history right on our doorstep - a must see for any self-respecting 'The Crown' fan. The ship is just one example of the wealth of experiences to take advantage of across the city.

Through our ForeverEdinburgh – The Story Never Ends campaign we’re encouraging all of our residents and visitors to enjoy our beautiful Capital and rediscover all it has to offer. From our world renowned attractions and inspiring city tours, to local food and drink experiences and outdoor venues, as well as our brilliant shops, our city has the most amazing tales to tell and this is a great time to take advantage of Edinburgh's offer and support local and city centre businesses that have been hard hit by the pandemic.

Chief Executive of The Royal Yacht Britannia, Bob Downie, commented:

We are delighted to be reopen, and strongly encourage locals to visit and discover for themselves why Britannia was voted as the Best UK Attraction, and thereby support Edinburgh businesses who are cautiously reopening after a very difficult period.
