Residents have just less than a week left to share their views on plans to decarbonise the heat supply of buildings and improve energy efficiency in Scotland’s capital.
The Edinburgh Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES) and Delivery Plan consultation closes on Sunday 3 March and residents can take part online. The results will be used to build on the engagement and consultation carried out to date.
The Edinburgh LHEES and Delivery Plan, which was prepared in response to the Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategies (Scotland) Order 2022, sets out an approach to improve the energy efficiency and decarbonise the heat supply of buildings.
Using an area-wide approach, the plan addresses all buildings in the Edinburgh area, not just the Council’s own building stock.
Council Leader Cammy Day said:
My thanks go to everyone who has shared their views on our exciting plans to decarbonise the heat supply of buildings and improve energy efficiency. I’d like to encourage all owners and occupiers in Edinburgh to have their say before the consultation closes in a less than a week.
The Edinburgh Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy, and Delivery Plan, represents the next step in our efforts to become a net zero city by 2030. While our goal is ambitious, we need to take drastic action to address the climate and nature emergencies.
I believe this strategic approach, which sets out how our buildings can move to net zero, will help us continue to lead the way. This plan is relevant to all residents in Edinburgh so please take this opportunity to have your voice heard.
