Reacting to the news today (Saturday 12 October) that Alex Salmond, former First Minister of Scotland, has passed away, Council Leader Cammy Day said:
My thoughts are with Alex Salmond’s family and friends today. The sad news of his passing will be felt by a great many across Scotland, and beyond.
A true stalwart of Scottish politics for many years, his influence over our country has been huge.
Political differences aside, his pride in his country and commitment to promoting Scotland on the world stage cannot be underestimated.
