Parking dispensations
A dispensation is if you need to load or unload on a single yellow line for longer than 30 minutes. There is a £14 administration charge for each dispensation request per vehicle and location. The charge must be paid in full by debit or credit card before a dispensation request can be processed.
We require at least 24 hours notice to process a dispensation application. You may need a dispentation for
- delivering heavy goods
- furniture or home removals
- vehicles with generators.
To set up a dispensation we require
- the location address
- start and end time
- company name
- vehicle registration.

Parking suspensions
All parking bay suspensions will be charged at the appropriate public parking rate for the street / area. There is no lower charge for the suspension of permit parking bays or for suspensions involving essential works. All charges must be paid in full by debit or credit card before a suspension request can be processed.
For suspensions we require three days notice excluding the weekends for resident permit parking spaces and two days notice excluding the weekends for public parking bays.
Please make sure that you have all the necessary permissions / permits for the work you are undertaking before requesting a suspension.
To set up a suspension we require
- the location address
- fax or email details
- date or dates required
- reason for suspension.

The information collected on the form will be used by the Council to process your application for a dispensation or a suspension because the Council has an obligation under the law to maintain and manage the public highway in Edinburgh.
We process under Condition 6(1)(e). Processing is necessary for the exercise of official authority vested in the data controller.
