Parking permits
Parking permits for all new zones are available for sale now through the Council’s online permit portal. Permits will be made available for streets in the western area of Zone S6 in October 2024, in advance of the zone going live.
Residents' permits
Due to the high demand for parking, residents parking permits are limited to one permit per person and two permits per household.
The permit charge will be calculated using vehicle emissions data for older vehicles.

Parking permits for visitors
Visitor parking permits are available to all residents within the new parking zones, offering reduced parking charges for your guests and visitors. Visitor parking permits can be used in permit and shared use parking places, with each permit valid for 90 minutes. Visitor parking permits are sold in books of ten. Blue Badge holders are entitled to double the number of permits at half the price.
Permit types
Extended visitor permit for zones N1 to N8 and S1 to S7 can apply for a maximum of 15 books per household which cost £20.40 per book.
Extended visitor permit for a Blue Badge holder can apply for a maximum of 30 books per household which cost £10.20 per book.
Parking permits for businesses
There are four permit types available to businesses.
Business parking permit
Up to two permits are available to business and office premises where a vehicle is essential to the daily operation of the business throughout the working day.
Applicants must confirm that their business outlet pays business rates and that the premises undertakes a ‘Class 2’ business activity as specified in the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes)(Scotland) Order 1997. For example, undertakes financial, professional or any other relevant service which it is appropriate to provide in a shopping area where the services are provided principally to visiting members of the public such as lawyers, accountants, estate agents etc.
Retail parking permit
Up to two permits are available to retail premises where a vehicle is essential to the daily operation of the business throughout the working day.
Applicants must confirm that their business outlet pays business rates and that the premises undertakes a ‘Class 1’ retail activity as specified in the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) (Scotland) Order 1997. For example, undertakes the retail sale of goods or provides a service principally to visiting members of the public. For example, post offices, travel agents, hairdressers, launderettes, dry cleaners, etc.
Trades parking permit
Unlimited permits are available for trades, such as plumbers and electricians, where vehicles are essential to the daily operation of the business throughout the working day. The vehicle must be sufficiently liveried (signwritten) with the business name.
Garage parking permit
Up to eight permits are available to specific garage premises where there is a requirement for customers vehicles to be stored on street before and after servicing.
