Why we are doing market research on this project
Given the importance of the project to the city, Councillors asked that we do market research in addition to standard consultation. This has been done recently on other projects, such as Circulation Plan and City Mobility Plan, and is recommended as part of the Council’s approach to consultation on large projects.
How we define stakeholders
We use the Scottish Government’s National Standards for Community Engagement to develop consultations. The Council uses an Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) approach to ensure we are complying with our equality and diversity obligations. This is particularly important with regards those who have protected characteristics.
We have used the IIA checklist to identify organisations we must consider as part of any consultation and engagement. These were listed in Appendix 1 of the 1 February 2024 committee report. We wrote to these organisations ahead of committee to advise them of the report and to confirm we would write again advising of consultation start date and encouraging participation.
As well as this, we are engaging with Council colleagues in biodiversity, ecology planning, active travel, public transport, parks and greenspaces to allow them to highlight to their networks that the consultation is taking place and to encourage participation.
We will also be implementing a communications plan to highlight the consultation and encourage feedback.
We will continue to monitor the stakeholder list and will add to it where necessary.
