Costs
On average a child will be in nappies for two and a half years and use between 4,000 to 6,000 disposable nappies. Prices will vary depending on the type of disposable nappies you use and the reusable nappies you choose to use. Below is a rough estimate of the savings that can be made:
- Cost for disposable nappies £800 to £1,200
- Cost for reusable nappies £200 to £400
- Average overall saving = £600 to £8,001
Extra cost savings
These cost savings are taken as a rough estimate. These days, prices vary hugely for disposable nappies, 16p to 28p each plus much higher for eco brands.
For reusables you can save much more than this if you buy second hand – you can pick up a set that will do you for the whole two and a half years for £50.
If you use your nappies for your second or third child, the savings are massive and if you then sell them on, you can make a return.
