The Council is delivering the project "Linking and restoring the fragmented heritage of Granton Waterfront, Edinburgh". The project is being delivered with support from Historic Environment Scotland and the National Lottery Heritage Fund via the Heritage and Place Programme. It forms part of the wider regeneration of Granton Waterfront.
The aims of the project are to
- repair and refresh four historic buildings and structures in Granton Waterfront - Granton Castle Walled Garden, Granton Lighthouse / Granton Lighthouse Cottage, the platforms of Granton Station, and Madelvic House
- deliver other improvements to the built heritage of Granton Waterfront
- improve traditional construction skills in Edinburgh
- engage the community with heritage via a programme of activities.
The Council has now completed the Development Phase of the project. This included working with partners to produce the following documents
- Architectural designs for the renewal of the historic buildings and structures in Granton Waterfront.
- An audit of the traditional materials used in Granton Waterfront.
- An audit of traditional construction skills in Edinburgh.
The Council has now applied for permission to proceed to the Delivery Phase of the project.
