ix While solar panels are less challenging to implement in an urban setting, one obstacle is that, as solar panels can be used to export electricity to the national grid, they put pressure on grid capacity which may mean the potential to deploy solar panels at scale in some areas of Edinburgh is limited.... The running costs of heat pumps can be cross-subsidised using solar panels (albeit as noted solar panels are least effective when heat demand is highest, e.g. after sunset and in the winter) or other micro-generation technologies.... Additionally, installing solar panels on building roofs has in some cases caused issues when the roofs in question required maintenance, with cost and disruption associated with relocating the panels.

The Access Panel were consulted in the production of a criteria to look at each scheme on balance going forwards.... This is seen by the Access Panel as creating additional difficulties for disabled people.... The Council intends to take appropriate next steps in a partnership/co-design approach with key stakeholders, such as RNIB, Living Streets, Spokes and Edinburgh Access Panel, to ensure different target audiences are reached and that key messages are appropriately tailored, and provided in a readily-accessible format for a range of groups of people. 11.

Decorative stone panels on the Dalry Road gables of Walker and Lewis Terrace, that on Lewis Terrace depicting the Edinburgh Co-operatve Building Company’s beehive emblem, are important historic features of the development.... Flush panelled doors (flush doors with planted mouldings to suggest panelling) or modern ‘stock’ panelled doors are not acceptable.
