    Plans for how over £500,000 for park and open space lighting improvements across the city have been approved by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Culture and Communities Committee.... This can include supporting valuable habitats for wildlife, trees, historic buildings and monuments, as well as spaces for events, sport, active travel routes and traffic-free places.... In order to meet the full plans, match funding will be sought to supplement the Council’s allocation.

    The City of Edinburgh Council marked the start of construction on a new affordable housing development with a ceremonial sod-cutting event on Thursday (15 August).... Plans also include a new Pavilion for Craigroyston Community Football club....     Museums, cultural events and resources were seen as accessible and important ways to explore the legacy of slavery and colonialism and its impacts on modern-day Edinburgh.... Response from organisations were positive; the majority perceiving the review as a crucial first step towards a longer-term action plan to address the legacy collectively and strategically.... On 30 August 2022, Policy and Sustainability Committee agreed to endorse the recommendations made by the Review Group and progress the actions outlined in the action plan.

  • Funding boost for Museum & Galleries Edinburgh’s Digital Engagement Strategy

    Museums & Galleries Edinburgh responded to the crisis and closure of venues by moving the entire programme of events online including: virtual art exhibitions; descriptive tours for the visually impaired; opportunities for people whose lives are affected by dementia; online talks; choirs; family craft sessions; podcasts and short films.... This is fantastic news and goes some way towards helping us as we plan for our service post-pandemic.... Developing a digital strategy has been a long time ambition for the service and I’m delighted that this funding will fully support our plans.
