Prestigious award scooped for Edinburgh’s Craigmillar regeneration
The judges recognised the important role that the project has played in supporting investment in retail and school estate in the town centre with further improvements planned for the wider area in the coming year.... The hybrid event held in Glasgow... There are areas for children to play and we’re investing more in public space through the Scottish Government’s Place Based Fund to create a space for community and public events.

Council set to recognise Ukrainian leaders with highest honour
In an additional display of solidarity with Ukraine, a ban on Russian cultural events and performances in Council-owned venues could be set (further to the cancellation of a Russian concert at the Usher Hall) and the Council would end its relationship with the Russian Consulate.... The experiences of those fleeing their homes and their country is heart-breaking and we are looking at how we can help those who seek refuge, but we also need the Home Office to outline a plan.”... The Lord Provost has also written to the Mayor of Kyiv outlining Edinburgh’s deepest sorrow for events, and the Council is reviewing all investments and contracts for Russian ties.

Ambitious plans for a Visitor Levy in Edinburgh took another significant step forward today (22 August), as councillors agreed key details of the draft scheme.... Revenue generated will be reinvested directly into initiatives that benefit residents and enhance visitor experiences, such as a ‘Well Kept City Fund’, affordable housing, city infrastructure, destination marketing and support for major events and festivals.... We welcome the three potential funding pots which if used appropriately will have a significant impact on how our city looks, and how we can support our crucial heritage and arts/event sectors.

Gas engineers reenact historic lunch at Granton gasholder
The newly created Granton Station Square in front of the building will also be host to events and local community activity events in the coming years. ... I’m really pleased that the industry is reenacting the original lunch in this way creating another event for the history books.... We will make sure the gasholder becomes the centre piece of our wider £1.3bn regeneration of the area with thousands of environmentally friendly homes, well connected to the rest of city, culture and art spaces and more planned.
