I fully appreciate the impact this action will have on our city and we’re asking residents to be patient and work with us to help manage the inevitable impacts by planning ahead and following our advice.... We’re developing a detailed recovery plan so clean ups can begin and services can resume as quickly as possible after the strike.

    Plans for how over £4m will be invested in parks, green spaces and cemeteries in a programme of priority works being rolled out across 2021 and 2022 have been approved by councillors.... follows the allocation of additional capital budget earlier this year and provides updates on projects either planned, already under way or already completed.... I’m excited that work can get under way and these surveys give us a plan for the next stages, which will help keep us focused as we make improvements throughout the city.

    Over 50 schools and nurseries are having planned works ranging from repairs and maintenance to upgrades in the February holiday as part of a major £193 million maintenance programme across Edinburgh.... In addition to the school work taking place this week other major projects in our future plans include spending £1.2m on Central Library improvements along with Edinburgh Leisure venues - this much-needed investment will continue as we bring our buildings up to a good condition.”... This work is on top of the £500m planned investment over the next 10 years for our ambitious new school building programme.”

    We have ambitious housebuilding plans, but we face rising construction costs as a result of inflation and difficulties securing land.... I’m pleased this decision received such powerful support today from Councillors and we will now work towards establishing a Housing Emergency Action Plan, while seeking the resources necessary to achieve its success....
