Transformed Granton walking and cycling path named after British explorer William Speirs Bruce
The core path in Edinburgh’s Granton Waterfront connects the heart of the neighbourhood with public transport links and shops along with Granton Beach, the future cultural and leisure offering at West Shore Studios, the promenade and a planned coastal park.... Plans for the wider regeneration of the area to make Granton Waterfront a new sustainable coastal town for Edinburgh include 3,500 net zero homes, a new primary school and lots of green and open spaces.... Through Places for Everyone, the Scottish Government has granted Stage 0-2 funding for further projects in relation to Phase 1 of the Granton Waterfront Regeneration, on which an initial planning consultation is currently underway.

Over £100m spent on upgrades to Council buildings and schools
The works programme will continue throughout the next two years with major projects planned including £1.12m on Central Library, £2.6m on Balerno High School and £1.7m on Leith Academy.... Future investment planned also includes £3.3m for Portobello Swim Centre and Warrender Park Swim Centre.... The Central Library is having £1.12m spent on improvements and is a key element of our future plans along with Edinburgh Leisure venues and this much-needed investment will continue as we bring our buildings up to a good condition.”

East Craigs to become city’s first Low Traffic Neighbourhood
also influenced our plans for an LTN, along with the local school’s travel plan and traffic surveys of vehicle volumes and speeds in the area.... Any plans for a permanent LTN, as part of WEL, would draw from this, though further, significant consultation with residents would be carried out before any decisions are made.

Be considerate and stay safe in open spaces as warm weather forecast from today
A report will be published by the City of Edinburgh Council today (Friday 31 July) outlining plans for councillors to consider reopening more public toilets.... People should also remember to plan ahead and take any rubbish home with you or use bins provided.... I would ask everyone in the meantime to plan ahead to minimise use of public toilets where they are open and keep our parks and beaches clean and tidy for everyone to enjoy.
