  • Edinburgh counts down to the Scottish Parliament Election 2021 with the highest ever numbers of registered voters and postal votes

Running an election in the Capital is no mean feat, and it’s thanks to a great deal of organisation and the hard work of our Elections Team and hundreds of count and polling staff to adapt to the additional restrictions due to the pandemic that things go to plan.... As we draw nearer to the day, I hope the public are making their own plans for voting, and ensuring they know when, where and how to have their say, remembering to put one cross on each paper on the day.

  • New approach for Third Party Cultural Grants in the Capital

The fresh approach was developed following consultation on the Culture Plan and feedback from Desire Lines* urging a more open access to funds as well as the need and expectation to keep evolving and developing the cultural offering in the capital, alongside ensuring a degree of stability to retain the city’s evident success.... There is no proposed further reduction in the overall fund for culture, but this is a renewed way of working that reflects our commitment to maintain as stable an environment as possible whilst also responding to the Culture Plan consultation feedback which reflected the need for more access to our limited resources.
