Hard Landscaping Works at Elm Row

As part of the Trams to Newhaven Project, reinstatement works on the existing footway on Elm Row are expected to commence from Monday 28 February 2022.

To accommodate these works we are required to extend our site lines in towards properties. The sequence of these works will commence from 21 Elm Row and progress towards 3 Elm Row with arrangements expected to be in place for approximately four weeks.

Pedestrian diversions will be in place on footways with access to shops, hospitality and leisure units being maintained. However, footways widths will be reduced but access will be maintained for members of the public, residents, and local shop owners.

Businesses that are currently occupying the footway will have to remove any arrangements in place to accommodate the works, this includes permit holders for hospitality venues removing all table and chairs while these works are being carried out.

The logistics hub on Montgomery Street remains operational to help with deliveries and dispatches throughout these works.

Wider works on Elm Row are continuing in this area alongside these works. This includes the extension to site lines on Montgomery Street which is to accommodate the installation of drainage pipes from Elm Row. Due to the number of services found the duration is unknown at present but current arrangements are expected to be in place for approximately 16 weeks. The full construction programme can be viewed on the project website in the Downloads section.

During the time that the above works are being undertaken, all efforts will be made to minimise disruption and inconvenience to residents and businesses as much as possible.
