Coronavirus guidance for Council employees

Working from home

Even though Scotland has moved beyond the Protection Levels system the virus, including its variants, are still with us - so the Scottish Government’s advice remains that people should continue to work from home wherever possible.

We’re currently working through our approach towards resumption of those services we had to suspend or reduce as a result of the pandemic, and the safe return to offices for those colleagues.

For now, if you’re currently working from home you should continue to do so until your service notifies you otherwise.

If you’re finding working from home challenging, either from a wellbeing perspective or because you don’t have adequate space at home to work, speak to your line manager who will explore the options with you.

What you need to do

Access to digital tools

We have a range of digital tools and apps to help you to do your job, particularly when working from home, including using Microsoft Teams for video calls, chat and sharing documents.

Read the guidance to using digital tools.

Working from home passwords

What to do if your password is about to expire

If your password is about to expire this can be changed whilst on the virtual private network (VPN). There may be an issue with your previous password being stored locally for the initial Windows login prompt, if this happens use your old password at the initial login prompt and once connected through the VPN this will be updated with your new password details.

What to do if you’re locked out of your laptop.
