A message from the Head of Justice Services
About our work
We have recently upgraded our workplaces to make them safe and supportive spaces. We have brought together services to help people get the most from their supervision, but also offer local services to people who need support closer to home.
We provide a range of integrated services that are leading the way in changes to trauma support, including
- Women’s Justice Centre which provides services within one safe space, including primary healthcare and financial advice
- Caledonian System, our integrated domestic abuse intervention service for men and the women and children affected by the abuse
- Survive and Thrive, offering trauma intervention to help women and men who have experienced trauma find safety and stabilisation
- Moving Forward: Making Changes (MF:MC), working with people convicted of sexual offences.
Working with the Council's Justice Services
Working with partners
We work closely with our partners in the Third Sector to help people build life skills, confidence and social capital, and reduce poverty and the impact of trauma.
Our Unpaid Work team, in partnership with the Cyrenians, has achieved terrific results in a garden project. This involved people on Community Payback Orders transforming a neglected area into a peaceful, wildlife friendly space. One participant noted “it was nice to be treated as part of a team and as an individual”.
Edinburgh Community Food works with our team at Willow to help women
- increase their awareness of a healthy balanced diet
- access affordable food
- gain confidence in food preparation and cooking.
