Section 3 Update - York Place, Queen Street and St Andrew Square
Update on the progress of works on Section 3 of the CCWEL from the top of Leith Walk along York Place and Queen Street, and then up North St David Street to St Andrew Square.
York Place, Queen Street and St Andrew Square
We plan to have York Place fully open to traffic by mid-April with the whole section complete by summer. From April to summer we will primarily be finishing off pavements. While this work is happening, temporary pedestrian access will be along the new cycleway.
We need to do some final roadworks on Queen Street and York Place. We will do these at night to minimise disruption during the day as we need additional traffic management to make sure the area is safe to work in. This work will run between 7.30pm and 6am from Monday 13 March to Friday 25 March.
There will be one final nightshift for white lining works at St Andrew Square which is planned for late May and details will follow nearer the time.
Working with you to reduce disruption
Unfortunately, some disruption and noise is inevitable due to the nature of the work, but we will work to reduce this as much as possible. Our plans have been approved by the Council’s environmental health team and every effort will be made to minimise noise during the night.
We will aim to have operations which are classed as high noise, such as burning off existing road markings, breaking out hard materials and drilling, complete by 11pm each night. Less disruptive tasks such as road resurfacing, line painting and laying of service ducts and paving will continue throughout the night.
