Roseburn to Haymarket Update
We are continuing to work hard on the CCWEL project with new cycleways, wider pavements and more crossing points starting to take shape throughout the route.
Roseburn Terrace – No right turn into Roseburn Street
The temporary no right turn into Roseburn Street will remain in place until 28 April 2023. We are aware that this is later than originally hoped and apologise for the extended period this restriction has been in place. We are trying to improve on this timescale if possible and will let you know if this changes.
Roseburn Terrace –Scottish Water burst pipe
On the night of 7 into 8 March 2023, a Scottish Water pipe burst under Roseburn Terrace and caused damage to the recently completed road strengthening and repairs. The burst main was not related to the CCWEL works and was likely due to the low temperatures. While the timing of this is frustrating, Council officers have been in ongoing discussion with Scottish Water and it is understood that the pipe is now repaired.
Roseburn Terrace and West Coates – Additional night work
To complete the remaining work along Roseburn Terrace and West Coates, we will be working some nights between Murrayfield Avenue and Devon Place. The work schedule is:
- Week of 20 March (Monday to Friday nights): Off-peak work with temporary traffic lights
- Week of 27 March (Monday to Friday nights): Off-peak work with temporary traffic lights.
Off-peak works will be between 7pm and 6am on each night, and there are no works scheduled on Saturday or Sunday nights. The work is to complete traffic islands, street lighting, and installation of paving. We will also be attending to a minor issue identified with the previously completed surfacing in West Coates. Each work area will be localised to maintain access to roads and properties.
Haymarket Terrace – Commencement
Work will start at Haymarket on 3 April 2023. This includes construction of the new public realm areas, resurfacing of existing pavements and construction of the segregated cycleway. We will be working in the area up to December 2023. Haymarket Terrace will be closed to eastbound traffic from 3 April until November 2023. The closure will be from east of Magdala Crescent to the east of Rosebery Crescent and a diversion will be in place from Magdala Crescent.
Working with you to reduce disruption
Unfortunately, some disruption and noise is inevitable, but we will work with you to reduce the impact as much as possible, and your co-operation is appreciated during the coming months.
