A8 road resurfacing and Haymarket junction improvements
We are planning to carry out work in the Haymarket area over 5 days between 24 and 29 June from 19:30pm to 06:00am.
These works are scheduled to take place at night to reduce traffic disruption.
The work includes some resurfacing of the road and cycleway and work on manhole covers. We will also use this time to install extra drainage and install lampposts.
The closure will start at Corstorphine Road at its junction with Murrayfield Road and finish at Clifton Terrace.
Local and emergency access will be maintained. The diversion for all traffic will be via Ravelston Dykes. Buses will be diverted from 19:00pm.
Donaldsons can be accessed from the West only. Those travelling beyond Donaldsons will need to follow the signed diversion route.
Safety and reducing disturbance is our priority
During construction, pedestrian and traffic management measures will be installed and maintained to make sure the work can be carried out safely for everyone, including residents, business and our workforce.
We must maintain safety zones between passing vehicles and construction plant and operatives. Due to the narrow nature of this new section of the A8 doing this without a full closure is impossible.
We appreciate the work will be disruptive but we will have the noisiest operations complete before 11pm. However, some noise will continue throughout the night.
Please drive with care and respect for the road workers.
