The total available for Pentlands Community Grants Fund (CGF) in 2024/25 is £44,179.
The next deadline for applications will be Monday 9 December 2024. There is currently a balance of £18,080 remaining in this area.

Awards made in Round 1 (2024-25), leaving a balance of £23,266
- Wester Hailes Youth Agency: £5,000 to cover costs related to a new kitchen in the Youth Agency building.
- Colinton Village Enterprise: £1,598 to support the creation of a community hub in Spylaw Park.
- West Edinburgh Majorettes: £3,000 to support equipment and uniforms for a majorette group.
- Rotary Club of Currie: £510 to support the Currie Flowers project which provides planters in public spaces.
- St Marys Church Dalmahoy: £715 to support an archaeology project involving local people on the history and the significance of Tormain Hill.
- South West Edinburgh 20 Minute Neighbourhoods (SW20): £2,500 to expand a free community e-bike loan scheme across the Pentlands area.
- The Wee Haven Youth (WHY) Project: £2,000 to support the ‘Connected Families’ programme will provide family trips during school holidays.
- Wester Hailes Growing Communities: £1,524 (partial award) to install solar panels so their gardens can capture and store enough energy to run small kitchen appliances.
- Manipulate Arts (Puppet Animation Scotland): £870 to produce a young person led creative anti-racism resource, made for other young people to engage with and in an accessible format.
- Home Link Family Support: £3196 to support a drop-in weekly PEEP group for parents with pre-school age children in partnership with Wester Hailes Library.
How we assess applications
We check each CGF application for eligibility and will get back to you if any information is missing or unclear.
Local funding panels meet to consider all eligible applications. The panels typically consist of ward councillors, community councillors and representatives from local community organisations. They look for evidence of how the project will benefit the local community, as well as accurate costings.
They may recommend to:

fully fund the project

offer partial funding (provided the project can still be delivered)

decline to recommend an award.
Occasionally the panel will defer an application to gather further information. Recommendations from panels are then considered by the Head of Service for Community Empowerment and Engagement. If your request for funding is approved, you will be sent the formal funding agreement papers to complete. The whole process from applying to being paid a grant usually takes around 3-4 months, but sometimes it can be longer.
