Our volunteers ensure our visitors leave the centre with the skills to overcome, dangerous situations they might come across in their life. This includes in the home, whilst travelling or doing leisure activities.
Volunteer roles
We have two
- safety guides take people around the sets, sharing key safety messages and leading group activities
- the emergency operator answers the 999 calls made by the groups and makes sure the programme runs to time.
Time commitment
A session lasts three hours, and this includes a briefing prior to each session and a debrief at the end. You can volunteer for as many sessions as you would wish. The minimum we ask is two sessions per month, but this is flexible.
Experience
None required. You must
- have good communication skills,
- enjoy working with children and as part of a team,
- be reliable,
- be willing to learn about safety and everyday life skills.
