How to get into and around Waverley Court
Induction
Anyone who’s new to Waverley Court, or recently returned to the building, must have a building induction. This is so that they know about the available facilities as well as about essential procedures such as what to do when there’s a fire alarm.
Managers should email WaverleyCourt.FacilitiesHub@edinburgh.gov.uk to arrange this before the colleague’s first visit.
You can access the building with your ID pass though main reception on East Market Street or through the car park on New Street.
Colleagues in reception can help you during working hours 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and until 3.40pm on Fridays.
Call 0131 529 6789 or 0131 529 6790

Building security and identity passes
Security officers work in the building 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Council colleagues and partners who work in the building must wear their identity (ID) pass clearly to make sure only authorised colleagues and partners are in the building.
The ID badges also provide swipe access through some gates and doors, including the car park and the gates in main reception.
Council colleagues can find out how to get a new or replacement identity (ID) pass on the Orb (intranet).
All visitors and colleagues without Council ID badges must sign in each day and will be issued with a temporary pass which they must wear.
There are security colleagues and CCTV cameras around the building, but please remember to report any security concerns you have.
Lock away personal items or sensitive material. The Council’s not responsible for your personal belongings.
Out of hours working
If you need to work between 7pm and 7am Monday to Friday or anytime over the weekend, you must sign in at reception, even if you started working in the building before 7pm. It’s important that security know where you’ll be working in the building.

Lifts and stairs
There are three sets of stairs and a passenger/goods lift which go to all floors including the underground car park and bike racks. There are three passenger lifts which serve the courtyard to level three, but they don’t go to the car park.
Air conditioning, windows and ventilation
There’s air conditioning throughout the building. To make sure the air conditioning works efficiently, please don’t open windows as this affects the sensors.
